One day, Parameswara had a quarrel with the siamese officer. Later, he killed him. The siamese king was very angry. He ordered his army to capture Parameswara. Parameswara had to run away. His wife and army followed him. They moved to north, far away from singapore. The Siamese army could not find him. One day, Parameswara said to his maen, "We must look for a suitable place to form a new country. It must be safe." His men agreed. So they travelled very far away. One day, they came to a shady place beside the river. Parameswara rested under the tree. Suddenly he saw a small deer before him. A dog tried to chase it away. It was not afraid. It fought with the dog fierecely with the dog. The dog ran away. Parameswar was very impresed. "I love it here. Let's build our houses here," Parameswara announced. Parameswara pointed to the tree beside him and asked, "What do you call this tree?" "Melaka tree, Your Highness," his men replied. "Then we shall name this place Melaka," he declared. He ordered his men to build houses and devolop the new found land. Merchants went there to trade. Melaka prospered and become famous under his rule over the years.
